FamuFest – Networks
The theme of FamuFest (film festival in Prague) for 2024 is Networks. I decided for a slightly unconventional treatment of the concept and used a mascot – an octopus.
The work includes a poster concept, billboard, social media posts, website visual design, merch and everything including a logo.
The logo has several variants and is based on the connection between individual letters (such a network in itself). Individual words and letters can be combined as needed, but to maintain a uniform face.
The first thing that came to mind when I came up with the concept of the Network was the octopus. And that’s because octopuses fulfill everything the concept is supposed to encompass. In addition to the main central brain, a network of neurons leads to each tentacle, and each tentacle is therefore an independent thinking branch (as well as the whole famu and even famufest – places, events, film sections, etc.). You can therefore work with the theme in a wide spectrum and imagine the octopus as the mascot of the festival, which I think would be engaging for the visitor. It is known that the octopus can change its color not only according to the environment in which it moves, but also according to emotions – this can, for example, be put to great use on social networks and presented in the way that we experience in the film.
When realizing the concept, I would create several illustrations of octopuses and use their individual parts – primarily tentacles. For visual identity, the connecting word is „connection“ and it has many variants of use. The octopus illustration would be great for merch and the individual tentacles for the festival tapes.
